Integral Magic™ Regards Today’s Astrology as Artifacts of an Earlier Worldview
There is a gulf between astrological concepts in Integral Magic™ and the same thoughts as they are used in other schools of Magick or by most astrologers practicing the ancient art. The Integral Magician regards contemporary Signs as artifacts of an earlier school of art-work, much as Enlightenment artists incorporated ideas from Renaissance art into their works, but maintained a critical distance.
Now the gulf between astrological concepts has opened into a wide canyon. On one side, the Integral Magician regards the old ideas of astrology as ingredients to make new recipes, building blocks for constructing new temples of thought, or pixels for arranging into new digital realities. But to the old astrology, the New Zodiac looks bereft of practical applications and ready answers to age old questions.
At this point in time, many of the proofs of the astrologer’s trade are not in existence with the New Zodiac. There are rough prototypes in some cases, but nothing ready for entering into serious public conversation. There are no birthcharts. There are no software programs for computing horoscopes. There are not even books to explicate the foundations of the New Zodiac.
All in good time. What we have at this point in time is a ground floor opportunity for the emergence of something new in the place where astrology once reigned supreme. This “something new” could be called astrology or perhaps not. It depends on too many stories that have not yet been told, the actors not yet cast, the directors and producers not yet having settled into their roles. You, the one reading this, your own role is emerging.
How did it come to this? Why did astrology need to be toppled, its vestiges used as rubble for foraging something new and yet-to-be-named? There is a preferred way to tell this story…. read The Kalendar Series: Book One, The Black Stone for my official version, as the first storyteller-in-chief of the New Zodiac. Long story short: the old Zodiac grew corrupt, evil. It needed to be overturned, not merely updated.
Astrologers will take umbrage at this notion, of course, but I hope they will not judge the New Zodiac too hastily. It needs years to take shape and the contributions of multiple scholars and thinkers and astrologers before the dust will settle. But it is not difficult to tell the story of the old Zodiac’s collapse into negative traits and dysfunctional dynamics: one only has to look at all the problems of the world and realize that the old ways of doing things are no longer working.
It’s obvious if you’re paying attention and listening to the right Myths about the nature of the universe. The old signs have formed a pact with the evil Ro to deprive humanity of “free will”, and they have started to extract their rewards beginning in the year 2,000 CE. Humankind is on a sort of auto-pilot now, guided by forces (unseen Signs) outside their purview (few believe in astrology and those who do have no understanding of the evil Ro’s plot to lead the old Signs astray). Humankind is living in an old myth. Its master myths need to be re-hewn, and with those New Myths there must be a New Magick.
If we are truly at a tipping point of consciousness in the course of the world’s evolution – and many leading edge thinkers say that we are – then the old astrology needs to go on the chopping block. As told in The Kalendar Series, 27 new Houses were brought by Kalen O’Tolan, the immortal Hanimwaa, one House for each consonant of Lingua-U. And the Great Bear himself, Beionai, led the forces of the Animwaa in the War of the Zodiac to bring representation of the plants and animals in the night sky as well.
At the Council of Nagoya in the 10th Century C.E. (a story told in “The War of the Zodiacs”, unpublished), a new schema was developed to make the Signs and Houses fully representative of Nature, and to ensure its continuation in perpetuity. But then … forces of darkness interrupted the course of evolution, leaving the fate of the Zodiacs in turmoil owing to the victory of the Ro in the Battle of the Timelines. New hope comes with the arrival of Integral Magic at the beginning of the Third Millennium C.E.
Whither astrology? The end of this Myth is being written now … We Are Writing It Together. Don’t just regurgitate stale astrological platitudes. Don’t just live history, make it. Join us in the most significant upheaval in the night sky in thousands of years, and help to create a new Science-Art founded on the art-work and science of the New Zodiac.
