The Kalendar Symbol
In her uptown apartment, an African-American woman plays a video game simulating the struggle of an oppressed people to win their liberation.
We must give in order to receive. Generosity of spirit and forgiveness produces a great bounty. Time and time again, we show our character in how we give to others out of what we have gained for ourselves through our own hard work. The liberation of an oppressed people is not derived merely from brute forse, but from the giving up of privileges and wealth earned through historical processes not of one’s own making. Freedom is not won merely by making a superior argument, but from playing the game of justice more effectively.
