The Kalendar Symbol
An ego emerging from the id wherein its superego is encamped.
Within the human personality, some have seen a tripartite division into id, superego, and ego. The instinctual or primitive part of the mind contains the drives to procreate and defend or attack. The superego contains moralistic and altruistic impulses. The realistic mindset or mediator chooses between the various impulses. The ego is said to operate based on reason rather than impulse or morality, often postponing satisfaction of short-term pleasures for long-term gains. Ego is a sort of Kiln for the personality, taking in soft clay and firing it until it is ready for being properly sociable.
