A prominent cable network has just announced that it has cancelled a weekly television program hosted by a famous, bestselling author. Supposedly his Christian views on Islam are too offensive to Muslims. The problem isn’t ratings. It seems that the network has a new 24-hour Arabic station and wants to avoid giving offense.
What scandal! What outrage! Will the expected rounds of conservative attacks on “political correctness” in the “liberal media” begin? Will the inevitable charges of a double standard begin? Can you hear them now: “If the author had criticized Christianity, this would never have happened; but since he criticized the ‘peaceful religion’ of Islam, his show gets cancelled!”
Such protests are unlikely, but we’ll see. The cable network, you see, is the conservative Christian Trinity Broadcast Network, which just cancelled Hal Lindsey’s “International Intelligence Briefing,” according to today’s news on The Revealer. Supposedly, they want a “kinder, gentler” message to aid in converting more Muslims to Christianity.
