I prefer the term Audi-Mind to Overmind to describe Station Eight or the eighth stage of consciousness, associated with the Ultraviolet altitude or causal state in AQAL Integral Theory. In Integral Magic, this station is linked to the Month of the Violet Heart, the Element of Vowel (Au), and the Subtle Energy Mark of Yung-Yin (𝌄).
“Audir” means To Hear in Interlingua. Thus, Audi-Mind is literally the “Hearing Mind”. H is the second Letter of this station (𝌄⚋), and Here is the home of the station of Wholeness. What is Here is Whole. To Hear is to Enact Wholeness.
Audi-Mind is the Ground, the inceptor and receiver of Sound, and it goes Round (the Wheel). From The Way which greets us in silence in the first pentagram of this Station to the climactic Alignment of Wheels at the Station’s close, there is more the sense of this Station going to the “within” of things, staying close to the Here and Home, with “wheels planted on the ground”, not the sense of rising to another place.
Of course, Au also is close in meaning to “Out”, which is way of talking about Transcendence (and this station pairs with Station Two, which is all about Immanence). But Outwardness is not the same as Overness. “Out” as a direction seems to radiate from a center in all directions. “Over” suggests something that rests on top, or an arrow pointing up.
What does Overmind do? In the sound meanings of Lingua-U, the sound /ov/ is associated with That Which Is Extra. Like a standing Ovation is Extra applause. Thus, the term Over seems better suited to my ears for the Indigo altitude (which is also called Para-Mind in AQAL Integral Theory).
