The Kalendar Symbol
A quiver filled with arrows.
The television set is blaring at the nursing home cafeteria. No one is talking to each other. A 90-year-old woman turns the TV off and starts a conversation with two 80-year-olds. Soon dozens of elders are talking, laughing, reminiscing, and holding hands affectionately. So many people in wheelchairs like so many arrows in a quiver. They possess the wisdom and memories necessary to contribute to solving the problems of individuals and society, but they just haven’t been asked the right questions by the right people in the right way. Even the quiet, forgetful ones could possess the lone arrow that strikes the target.
