The Kalendar Symbol

Holding up their hands, members of a large audience restrain a performer who challenged their expectations.

Commentary

A crowded auditorium is packed tightly with concert goers. As one moves, they all move in rhythm. Fully interlocked with each other, they turn their attention to the performer who has brought them together. Disappointed or surprised, they have lost their expectations. When the performer leaps into their midst, they hold him up, returning his gift of self-expression with a mixture of control and flight-like freedom.
