Note: This is the fifth in a series of short introductions to the people listed on Watkins Books’s “100 Spiritual Power List.”
No. 97, Shakti Gawain, has the following profile on Wikipedia:
Shakti Gawain (born 30 September 1948) is an author and proponent of what she calls “personal development”. Her books have sold over 10 million copies, according to her website. Gawain’s best known book is “Creative Visualization”. She has also written “Living in the Light”, “Awakening”, “Meditations”, “The Path of Transformation”, “The Four Levels of Healing”, “Creating True Prosperity” and “Developing Intuition”. She is the co-founder, with Marc Allen, of New World Library Publishing Company and founder of Nataraj Publishing, a division of New World Library.
Gawain’s website contains a Daily Affirmation. For February 26, she says:
Struggle is very familiar. In a way, it’s comfortable. We’re good at struggling. Confronting challenges, working on goals – these are easy. But when we begin to get the things that we’ve always wanted in life, it can be disconcerting. A part of us will say, “Wait a minute, where’s the struggle? Is this okay? Is it okay for things to be easy?” It can be frightening or confusing. We are used to filling our lives with effort, and when things start to get easier, the open space may feel uncomfortable. Having things come to us and receiving what we’ve always wanted can be a challenge!
A website devoted to quotes contains a page of her positive quotations including these:
An affirmation is a strong, positive statement that something is already so.
Every time you don’t follow your inner guidance, you feel a loss of energy, loss of power, a sense of spiritual deadness.
I am convinced that life in a physical body is meant to be an ecstatic experience.
Blessings, Gawain, for being your Unique Gift in the world!
