The Wily Magician’s Best Secrets, Part 3

lol-dictionary-300x199Rule #3: The realm of language and symbol exists in a constant state of evolution, and we are active participants in a collective drama, the wily Magicians most of all. Use language responsibly.

Every word you say or write, every thought you co-create with unconscious processes in the individual and collective unconscious, every time you use a symbol to represent anything at all, you are co-creating. You are creating a beautiful Mandala in which all things are related. This is the awesome and awful truth. If you are like most people, you are oblivious to this unconscious drama. But if you are a wily Magician, then you can’t help but be drawn into this marvelous feature of life. It carries the potentiality to create and desecrate, destroy and delight, amaze and amyster. (The word “amyster” is a neologism that just created itself. It is supposed to mean “to make mystery”, but what it really means is a matter of how it is taken up in processes outside of my control.)

The wily Magician has many choices for using language, evolving it. I urge responsibility and vision and a willingness to submit to widespread cosmological forces working themselves out through linguistic evolution. Do not approach linguistic evolution like a child, babbling nonsense; nor like a teenager, neologizing like a cracked up rapper; nor like a typical adult, developing new words as tools to be used for utilitarian purposes; nor like a more mature adult, seeking novelty mainly in the depths of one’s unique experiences. Linguistic evolution occurs on many developmental levels and stations of life; be aware of your own purpose and nurture awareness and tolerance of many different forms of linguistic evolution. But none of the motives that I have mentioned are enough for the wily Magician. I urge linguistic evolution in the spirit of joining an amazing cosmic dance, recognizing your own special coordinate in a massive unfolding Mandala in which language has taken a great leap forward in its capabilities. I urge attuning yourself to the possibilities for linguistic novelty only available by learning a meta-language which unfolds the symbols of all the Sacred Word traditions in existence.

That is the breathtaking leap I have been hinting at! Do you see it? There is a meta-language available right now which stands as a prototype for arranging all the Sacred Word traditions known in 7,000 multifarious languages. The most essential vowel and consonant sounds are all there (there are a few less common sounds that aren’t depicted by the set of 40 letters, but some loss of variation is inevitable in a project of this sort). By attuning yourself to this meta-language, you can access the creative “spirits” that have been described by the yogis and esoterics and spiritualists for thousands of years, in a manner of speaking. You can make your acts of linguistic evolution powerful not merely because your creativity drudges up personal shadow material or egoistic knowledge, but because you have tapped into the Great Tradition of language mystics throughout all of human history.

(Maybe Lingua-U isn’t perfect. But it’s Version 1.0 of a new kind of language. Give it some time to grow and room to spread out and emerge with all the beautiful bluster it can muster. Lingua-U puts you at the Heart of the Living Logos. You can try accessing the Living Logos merely through one language, with its partly arcane and partly obsolete symbolism — all individual languages are in a state of decline — but you will lose sight of the way that Spirit has revealed itself throughout world history in a multitude of linguistic forms and expressions.)

Meta-language is the wily Magician’s most adroit friend and foe in climbing the stepladder of consciousness, one step at a time, enveloping all that is within Space, Time, and Thought. We have published “Lingua-U Codex: Excerpt A” and now there is a guide, a sort of Beginner’s Manual for accessing the Konstruct of Integral Magick, specifically Lingua-U and the Kalendar. Through a regular practice of breath and body-movement and subtle energy manipulation, it ought to be possible for any serious student of Integral Magick to figure their way to understanding their life, their world, their future, and the world’s future. This may seem like an overstatement, but on a subject of this incredible importance it is best to be up front about this technology’s potential.

(As an aside, the Codex not only describes past stages of development; through an iterative view of the fundamental features of each stage it allows us to begin to project forward to anticipate the highest possible stages of consciousness for human potential and destiny. In this sense, the Codex is an Oracular Text of a very peculiar sort: it is an Oracle which hopes to provide wisdom useful for making the route easier for human beings to climb to their highest potentials, depicted as Person-Perspectives. Stages of Consciousness. Levels of Maturity. For its functionality as an Oracular Text, the Codex depends on a precise numerology and geomancy, alignments of the features of thought with precision. But this is a topic for another day.)

Don’t worry today how to complete the project of learning a meta-language. Just think about how to begin. You have Excerpt A of the Codex. Go to town with it. Ask questions. Intuit the answers by yourself or with aid. Every time you create a new linguistic expression, coin a word or phrase, examine the Codex so you can understand what is emerging from within you: Yang, You, and Yin energetic forces more subtle than alphabetic letters. Learn if you are making language more Yin (or allowing Yin to express itself through you); or if you are making language more Yang (or becoming a pawn for Yang force); explore whether there are more Unitive possibilities than you have imagined previously.

The key is to recognize yourself as a vessel for linguistic evolution that is Kosmic in scale. It’s the shift in perspective to this scale that is key for integral magick. Don’t settle for merely pre-personal, personal, or even trans-personal forms of language generativity when you can go Kosmic, a truly massive up-leveling of your consciousness. Let every syllable — indeed, every phonetic feature — you utter be enhanced by awareness of its place on the Mandala of Everything. I promise after a while you won’t even have to try to evolve language consciously; Language will evolve You.

And remember: always use Lingua-U responsibility.

The Wily Magician’s Best Secrets Revealed, Part 2

duck-hunter-for-blogRule #2: Questions suggest their own answers, when you attend to the sound-meanings, not the literal meanings of its words. Language itself is offering a helping hand for getting closer to the desired answer, as if the letters themselves are forming alliances which have determined how much closer to put you. Better phrased questions get better help.

Are you astonished yet at the secrets of the Wily Magician? You ought to be, but perhaps your view of language is more delusional than his. This may be so if you treat language merely as an instrument for getting the meaning you want, not as a magico-artistic vessel.

The view of language as merely a tool for manipulating meaning-objects is sadly a common one. It is the version taught in grammar books. It is the version preferred by the scientific journals’ editorial committees (not that there’s anything wrong with that purpose, generally).

The view of language preferred by the Wily Magician is to view language from a very high bird’s eye level — all the 7,000 languages on the planet Earth, all their histories ever spoken that we can retrieve in our conscious or unconscious minds (individual and collective), all the language-descriptions written by philosophers of language, the sum total of dictionary pages in every dictionary, all in a state of flux. I call the object of this bird’s eye perspective Language with a capital L.

There are two important views of Language with a capital L: the first, that of the GreenPostModerns, is that Language is changing, but in ways that are impossible to generalize about, except to point to seemingly random and chaotic changes; the second, that of the VioletMagicians, if I may speak as a representative of a wily group, is that Language is evolving somewhere. It is acted upon by the spirit, and it is spirit acting in the world.

I do not expect to convince the GreenPostModerns and convert them to my VioletMagician beliefs, but I do recognize that work remains to be done to make magical language systems acceptable to the mind of the postmodern analyst. Some of this work is suggested by scholarly articles by dutiful academics who are analyzing the patterns of linguistic evolution today and discovering hidden, non-random processes at work. I’ll pass along articles that cross my path, but don’t count on me. It is not my vocation to convert GreenPostModerns. Dutiful academic researchers can get closer to understanding language from a VioletMagician perspective, but the path ahead for them is not easy for me to spell out.

I have taken my own path, and it was long and arduous (and to be continued). I had to re-build my inner psyche so it operated in synch with Lingua-U, and then I had a paradigm to test, one in which every letter conveyed spiritual significance and beauty. Every single letter, all 40 of them, even those containing sounds not commonly used in English. I had to analyze each letter’s function in a Mandala of consciousness, a dynamic and powerful spiritual symbol capable of articulating every letter’s distinct function and living duty in a new (under development) meta-language. Thus it is that a Mandala rose in the world’s intellectual history, the (nascent) Lingua-U.

On a personal level, note that I could only take my experiments with Lingua-U so far. The process of building a bridge between conventional meanings and a new world of meta-meanings sketched in a post-metaphysical framework was personally debilitating at times. It led to psychotic meltdowns, if I am honest with you. But I don’t want you to think that Lingua-U makes people psychotic. I was diagnosed with Bipolar I well before undertaking the difficult scholarship and investigations into sound-symbols, and it is quite likely that someone without the proclivity to “walk between the worlds” will not encounter any problems in studying or practicing Lingua-U. I don’t know what to tell you. Don’t study Lingua-U if you think it will compromise your mental health. Study Lingua-U if you have already observed certain magical properties in language and wish to have access to a powerful technique for organizing your perceptions of sound-symbols and subtle energies in a natural, useful, and helpful Konstruct which can give you mental health greater than anything that you would have to give up by refusing to acknowledge some sort of Logos (Sacred Lingua).

Let us return to the topic of questions. I will select a question by a random process:

Where shall we hunt for wholeness?

The answer to this question depends on the spatial relationship between two words when they are situated on the new subtle maps. The word “hunt” is located at the center tile of the letter “H” — ┆╎╎╎╎┆ (211112); the word “wholeness” is located at the center-right tile of “H” – ┆╎╎╎┆┆ (211122).

So the Wily Magician tells you: Language itself has evolved a very special relationship between the Hunter and Wholeness, such that — when looked at only as a result of the first six demarcations of subtle energy — they are only separated by a single shift of subtle energy at the fifth demarcation, a shift from Yin (for hunting) to You/Unitive (for wholeness).

Thus, the answer to the question is given a breathtaking hint: 5/6 of the way to “wholeness” is already accounted for by your “hunting”. You only have to adjust the fifth mark (which is generally associated with so-called White Magic, the symbol of the White Horse, and the three key seats: the Seat of Governance, with God at the Unitive-Unitive position; the Seat of Culture, with Consciousness at the Unitive-Unitive position; and the Seat of Questioning, with Quality at the Unitive-Unitive position. By shifting your relationship to the fifth mark from one of Yin (negativity, receptivity) to one of You (unification, All-ing), you can resolve your situation.

If we take the Yin view of the fifth mark to be Consciousness at the Seat of Culture, shifting to the You view of the fifth mark as Quality at the Seat of Questioning, then you should hunt for Wholeness by shifting from your Culture-view to your Questioning-view, and look for Quality there. Or so says the Wily Magician!

This is one answer given by Lingua-U, in part, when the question is posed, “Where shall we hunt for wholeness?”. Every question which can be put into a language, even a simple one of spatial relationships or differences between ternary numbers, can be answered in Lingua-U. It is answered with a special magico-poem inherent in the Way of Things as they are understood from a point-of-view like a God’s-eye-point-of-view. This is not as great or metaphysical a claim as you may think it is. But it ought to be suggested. Lingua-U generates answers to questions from an up-leveled consciousness, and if you’re not ready for this sort of information, if you don’t really want to know the higher form of answer you might get, then don’t bother asking.

We live in a world in which questions have a way of suggesting their own answers. And yet fools that we are, we don’t let Language help us in divining an answer. What a mess!

Where Does the Integral Magick Project Stand?

cauldronEarlier this year, I imagined that I would be writing a blog called The Integral Cauldron all year, and beyond, each entry building the backstory of my epic literary contribution, The Kalendar series of books. Not that it matters to very many people, but so you don’t have to speculate, the magic blog is on hold. In a sense it has been replaced by this blog, Brave New Words.

I have also paused my writing in The Kalendar series so I can focus on getting the word out about the first one. I need to function as both writer and marketer in most respects, and it’s time to make sure that people who might be interested in this phenomenon have the best possible chance of learning about it. Part epic poem, part fantasy-fiction, part Integral philosophy, part magick handbook and divination sourcebook. It is a genre-disruptive book indeed.

The Kalendar series of books are still imagined as a nine-book series delivered over several years for their own sake, and for accompanying the project of Integral Magick. They will tell the story of an immortal human being, Kalen O’Tolan, as his long years lead him from the Bronze Age of antiquity through our present day and a thousand years into our future. Along the way, he is killed at the Battle of Red Cliffs, and he returns (or so it seems) along a special Timeline, provided that the conditions of the Timeline are manifest.

Like other fantasy/sci-fi books that you will find on the bookstore shelves, the books in The Kalendar series contain a magical system. But unlike most other books, the magical system of these books is one that is intended for practice. The Integral Magick system is one which can be used for actual magical practice for “real” results, if the possibilities of the magickal system are fully realized. For example, there is a New Tarot delivered in nine suits, one in each book of the series; the entire Tarot system is available for use for psychics, mediums, and spiritual adepts who want to use this practice. Of course, it will help when the full Tarot decks – all of them: the Yang Deck, the Yin Deck, the You Deck — are published.

I have reserved two domains – and – at least one of which will contain my future writings intended to help people develop facility with the new system of magick. I have also begun to coalesce a Facebook group – the Integral Magic Circle at — where newbies and esoteric experts alike can discuss the new approach to magic. I don’t have as much time as I would like to lead discussions in the Magic Circle, but when I need to, I will make an entry in the private group.

All of this talk of websites and social media groups and fantasy books should tell you: the Integral Magick project is alive and progressing at a natural clip. If I knew more about the precise timing of its evolution, I would tell you. I am putting out trial balloons and testing the readiness and interest and knowledge of people who are kindred spirits. And where I am not finding the kindred spirits that I expect, I am going back to the drawing boards and figuring out if I need to adjust my initial ideas and plans.

So the Integral Cauldron blog is more or less defunct. I will re-boot it in a new place when the timing is right. In its place is this spot, Brave New Words, where magic will very much be a subject of discussion and, yes, teaching. I have a gut feeling that if there will be a resurgence of magick-al leadership capable of re-formulating the wisdom of past Magicians, then it will depend on a high degree of transparency and trust in the “powers” and “efficaciousness” of new Magicians. The new Magicians will need to build their credibility the old fashioned way: transparency, documented magical feats, and the ability to communicate to others the essential techniques necessary to realize the potential of “real” magick.

I believe in Integral Magick, and want to see it realized from acorn to stem, to trunk of a mighty oak. But I don’t control its growth. I can do my part, and see what comes next. Part of my hope for magick’s future is this blog. I think if I can explain the story behind the system’s genesis then people will be better able to understand the system’s importance and limitations.

Remember: Integral Magick is not necessary to perform feats of mundane achievement (egocentric magic), but feats of worldcentric magic unlike anything the world has ever seen. Through Lingua-U, it cam help to bridge the gaps between the theologies of all the world religions – offering a meta-language for reconciling the Divine Names and Holy Names. That is no small feat, and its success can certainly be measured by Magicians, if they possess a sufficiently high level of consciousness for knowing wicked good magick when they see it.

Introducing Phonosemantic Meditation (PM)

You are invited to follow a new series of Facebook status updates at Joe Perez – Author which introduce the practice of Phonosemantic Meditations. These are simple sacred utterances or mantras which have the ability to re-orient one’s relationship to language — and foster the emergence of a trans-linguistic awareness — over time through repetition.

The practice builds day by day by linking the phoneme meaning — say, /kɛ/, for the start of the word Care — with the energetic posture by mindfully recognizing the Lingua-U equivalent hexagram, ╎╎╎╎│┆, in your speech kinesthetics and by expressing the subtle energy in your body’s posture.

Each day has both a morning and evening practice. There are 729 distinct meditations over the course of the calendar year, two per day. In a year’s time, as the stations of the Kalendar are traversed, the entire Lingua-U alphabet is enfolded into your awareness through this simple daily meditative practice. In this way, your awareness of the subtle connections between speech, body, and the natural world coalesce in a new harmony.

Phonosemantic Meditations are a core daily practice necessary for the study of Integral Magick. If you are at all curious about developing tearing down the body/mind barriers created by a lack of a more comprehensive language awareness, or if you want to up-level your subtle energy work, “like” and share these posts, and begin to use Lingua-U’s meta-map of a Universal Language of Energy to enhance your spiritual development.

While mantras have been around for 1000s of years, there’s never been a fairly comprehensive set of them suitable for meditative practice and inquiry until now. That’s the point of up-leveling your existing mantra practice, if you have one, with Phonosemantic Meditations (PMs).

There are 729 different hexagrams which depict mantras for reciting, two per day for an entire solar year. A simple way to get started with PMs is to recite the vowel sound expressed in the first two symbols of the day’s hexagram. Today it is ╎╎, which is the schwa vowel or “ə” sound as in “custom”. Add this vowel to your sitting meditation or yoga practice in an unobtrusive way. Change the vowel every 40 days with the start of each new month of the Kalendar.

In this way, you can begin to know the inner nature of nine common vowel sounds, the nine Secondary Vowels of ‪#‎LinguaU‬. As you are ready to deepen your practice, you can learn to express the consonants like ╎╎╎for K or combine them into consonant-vowel expressions like ╎╎╎╎╎ for /kə/ or ╎╎╎╎╎ for vowel-consonant expressions like /ək/.

The Black Stone Is Now Available For Purchase!

At long last, release the Kraken!

The Wheel of Existence turns at the Common Era’s most extraordinary time imaginable. After billions of years of evolution, a Rounder has been born at Zero who returns from Beyond to dwell amongst the mortals.

He is Kalen O’Tolan. His young appearance belies the secret of his immortality, an Aeon-spanning Kalendar to which his life and times are aligned. As the world of the Iron Age advances to heighted culture and civilization, he ages slowly in his boyhood. Kalen is aided by parents of mysterious ancestry, his loyal brother and tenacious sisters, the Wizard Aupaiaaqua, and other extraordinary beings.

The old world of Magic is dying, and every magical Power is set for turmoil. Corrupted and evil, Aries-Pisces leads the fight to destroy the Rounder and seize the Artifacts of Orr which the boy Kalen is charged to find and protect. Kalen must obtain the Black Stone and win the trust of the Great Bear who will lead the forces of Animwaa in the War of the Zodiacs.

Miraculously, the future of humankind depends on the outcome of the hero’s quest. A terrifying calamity called the Nadir approaches the world in 2,111 C.E. Kalen must find a way to communicate with someone alive in the present day who can alert humankind to the approaching threat in order to take corrective action before it’s too late.

The fate of Existence itself depends on Kalen’s ability to influence the development of Lingua-U, a new Universal Meta-Language, in our time. The Black Stone comprises two distinct works: “The Omphalos of Delphi,” a fantasy novel, and “The Surrender of Symbiosis,” an epic-length philosophical poem. Both books are joined under one cover and offer interwoven explorations of human meaning-making at the foundations of consciousness.

The Black Stone is the first in a series of nine genre-disrupting works offering a mix of fiction, poetry, art, and philosophy. Together they will make up The Kalendar Series, an epic volume which tells a single story spanning the entire globe of the Earth beginning more than 2,000 years in our past and ending nearly 1,000 years in our future. This is a work that testifies to the emerging human capacity to create languages, tell stories, paint pictures, sing songs, and predict the future from an integrated sense of a unique identity as participants and co-creators in the evolution of Kosmos.

“A sort of Lord of the Rings meets Integral Spirituality meets The Canon of Supreme Mystery (among others). If you enjoy — and are ready for — sprawling epics built with spiritually integrated circuitry, The Black Stone is for you — brilliant, compelling, original, beautiful.” – Ken Wilber, The Integral Vision.

Introducing the Bear-Yak Zodiac

The Mythos of the Third Wave

Imagine that you are a Zodiac beginning with Aries and ending with Pisces. You are defined by the Second Wave. You have a streak of duality at your core. At the Zero of the Common Era, you are given by the gods only 2,000 years for your Earthly reign, and then you must fade or allow yourself to be twisted into dark and evil ways to subvert humanity’s free will.

Now imagine that you are a Zodiac beginning with Bear and ending with Yak. You are defined by the Third Wave. You have triplicity or ternary numbers at your core. At the Zero of the Common Era, you are given by the gods only 3,000 years for your Earthly reign, but you must fight with the Zodiac of the Second Wave for domination.

The ensuing War of the Zodiacs is told in The Kalendar Series, and we will say little about it here. But we must explain why the Bear-Yak Zodiac is so little known in our day. Long after the War of the Zodiacs appeared to be over, a terrible disruption of the fabric of space and time destroyed the harmony which had been won at the Council of Nagoya. Thus the evil Ro succeeded in twisting the Aries-Pisces Zodiac into a dark menace.

Thrust into the Ro’s slavery, the Aries-Pisces erased the historic Peace Accord among the Zodiacs and sent the Animwaa of the Third Wave into a horrible jeopardy. They took the spotlight all to themselves and, upon the end of the Second Millennium, insisted upon remaining in the heavens past their expiration date. Now the fate of the Zodiacs rests in the hands of the human beings and Hanimwaa in the early 21st century, the period of History known as the Great Overturning. They must choose between Zodiacs.

You can choose the old ways of duality and conflict. Or you can evolve to a Zodiac which is grounded in a ternary numerology. Based in a Trinity, the Bear-Yak Zodiac is capable of exploiting the new harmony of Lingua-U and the rest of the Integral Magic™ system.

The Bear-Yak Zodiac is a Sky-Calendar which divides the night sky into 27 Houses which are described by the Consonants of Lingua-U. These also correspond to distinct constellations in the night sky which have been noticed in the archives of the Nagoya Accord in the 10th Century C.E., and which have been modified numerous times in the past ten centuries according to advances in astronomical observation and the political alliances of the Animwaa.

Each House of the New Zodiac is given one Sign, which is the constellation of the Consonant itself. The Consonant is symbolized by two different Animwaa (which may be considered Signs of a sort). These are the animals pictured in The Kalendar Series: Book One, The Black Stone, but with additions. Some of the Animwaa serve defined terms in the Kalendar, and then they yield to a successor. In this manner, the Animwaa which represent each Sign rotate over time in the heavens.

In the War of the Zodiacs, the 54 Animwaa arranged themselves into six distinct armies, one for each of six distinct regions of the night sky, each guarded by nine Animwaa. For this reason, the six-sided star represents the New Zodiac, immortalizing the six armies, one point for each army as follows:

Point 1. The Early Yang Point. The topmost point represents nine Animwaa:  Bear, Bat, Pig, Platypus, Viper, Vulture, Fish, Fox, and Panther.

Point 2. The Later Yang Point. The second point (upper-right) represents nine Animwaa:  Moth, Insect, Iguana, Deer, Dolphin, Tiger, Toad, Zebu, and Zebra.

Point 3. The Early Yin Point. The third point (lower-right) represents nine Animwaa: Spider, Swan, Sheep, Shark, Echidna, Elephant, Gecko, Gopher, and Kangaroo.

Point 4. The Later Yin Point.  The fourth point (bottommost) represents nine Animwaa:  Eagle, Quail, Squirrel, Opossum, Emu, Chicken, Chimpanzee, Giant Panda, and Jaguar.

Point 5. The Early You Point. The fifth point (lower-left) represents nine Animwaa: Mayfly, Mouse, Axolotl, Newt, Ant, Alligator, Wolf, Walrus, and Hyena.

Point 6. The Later You Point. The sixth point (upper-left) represents nine Animwaa: Horse, Whale, Wren, Rhinoceros, Rabbit, Octopus, Llama, Otter, and Yak.

These are the stars of the New Zodiac! Because we are simultaneously describing the letters of Lingua-U (for instance Bear and Bar represent B), much of what we say in this teaching will also shed light on the 27 Houses and 27 Signs (constellations) of the Bear-Yak. But we must pay special attention to the 54 Animwaa of the New Zodiac because these animals show us how Reality is aligned when the Sky-Calendar is divided into six, and then further divided into nine.

The Bear-Yak Zodiac is one of the truest expressions of the Third Wave, and each animal has something to teach us uniquely which helps us to understand the Triune Infinite. Stay tuned for future installments of this blog series to see the world in an entirely different way gifted to us by the War of the Zodiacs.

Lingua-U Alphabet: 0: B

LESSONSB, The Third Letter of Lingua-U, Is Linked To “Begin”, “Base”, “Big”, “Bang”, “Being”, and “Bear”.

What can we learn about the letter B in Lingua-U by studying the sound-meanings of common English words? Quite a bit, actually. More than enough to get us to several key generalizations that will help us to use B skillfully in Integral Magic.

Recall from our recent lessons regarding the number Zero that in Lingua-U every letter can be reduced to or substituted for a number. This process is called Gematria, after the similar Kabbalistic process which applies to the Hebrew language. Lingua-U’s Gematria applies to the letters of Lingua-U, which are based on the International Phonetic Alphabet, but the process is the same.

B is 000 (which = 0), just as Eɪ is 00 (which = 0), and Aɪ is 0. We know that Zero comes before other numbers, and before starts with B. We know that Zero is at the base or bottom of other numbers, and both base and bottom start with B. We know that counting begins with Zero, and begin starts with B. In the Kosmos, we associate beginnings with the Big Bang, and both Big and Bang begin with B.

Think about it. Lingua-U is on to something. These associations are not random chance, but part of the design of the meta-language which is intended to show that language, when arranged in the form of Lingua-U, imitates or mirrors Nature. If for some reason there is another arrangement of language which is a more perfect mirror of Nature, then Lingua-U is challenged. It would need to evolve or die, iterating to a Version 2.0 or whatever, or ceasing to best fulfill its aspiration.

Miscellaneous Notes Regarding Lingua-U: Waves, Zero, Numerology, Sound-Meanings

LESSONSWe qualify all our remarks about Lingua-U by noting that they apply to the Third Wave. In the Integral Magic™ system worldviews are assigned to a Wave according to the numerological insights which govern their most fundamental assumptions. In our day, most worldviews resonate at the Second Wave or some combination of the Second and Third Waves.

Only Integral Magic makes Wave a defining characteristic of a worldview, however, and so it is the first fully Third Wave worldview. It is the first worldview to operate with an explicit numerological bias which is ternary in nature. In contrast, the dominant Second Wave worldviews operate with an implicit dualism which is rarely brought into awareness, let alone challenged.

Waves are a way of talking about number bases and how worldviews are grounded implicitly or explicitly in them. In the Third Wave, worldviews may be analyzed for their numerological bias by asking:  Do they make unary thought primary? Do they make dualism primary? Do they make ternary thought primary?

In ternary thought, there are three digits: 0, 1, and 2. Letters in a ternary language (such as Lingua-U) may be reduced to these digits through Gematria, which allows us to see Number and Letter as fundamentally similar constructs which are part of a Triune whole.

Lingua-U allows 0 to be represented by one Primary Vowel (Aɪ as 0), one Secondary Vowel (Eɪ as 00), and one consonant (B as 000). The characteristics of these three letters are then “absorbed by” or “ascribed to” Zero. We have previously seen that Zero is linked to rightness, lightness, silence, time, and why. Then we saw that it is linked to creativity, nature, places, making, taking, and the changing of states. In our next lesson, we will see that Zero is also linked to bigness, bangs, bodies, bottoms, and backward directions.

But what do we mean when we speak of sound-meanings? There is a technical definition which is very comprehensive. For the letter B, it goes like this: the definition for the sound meaning of B is {THE SUM OF ALL /b/ SOUND-MEANINGS FOR EVERY /b/ USE IN EVERY LANGUAGE, PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE}.

Such a comprehensive definition is unobtainable in practice, though fortunately a good working definition is obtainable for Lingua-U Prototype 1.0, which is this: {THE SUM OF ALL /b/ SOUND-MEANINGS FOR EVERY /b/ USE IN THE 500 MOST FREQUENTLY USED WORDS IN ENGLISH}. Note: Owing to the paucity of English words for some Lingua-U letters, non-English words or less common English words may be needed to generate a rough working definition for some sound-meanings.

So when we are talking about the number Zero, there is no sound-meaning to speak of. However, by Gematria we know that 0 = Aɪ OR Eɪ OR B. Thus, the Zero, the ultimate symbol of nothingness, is far from an empty signifier to Lingua-U. Indeed, it is bountiful in its symbolic linkages to Space, Bases, Bottoms, Backs, Aims, Aces, Creativity, Creation, Making, Light, Right, Bright, and “I”.

If you want to know how the worldview of Lingua-U is different from the mainstream sensibility, then start by looking at how they talk about the number Zero. Do they represent nothingness with utterly nothing? Is there no word, no letter, for representing Zero? Or is it the Ace of Spaces, the centerpoint of Creativity, the Initiating Principle?

Although anyone fluent in multiple languages may be skeptical that one can rely on only one language for a working definition of /b/, in fact our phonosemantic analysis operates just fine in one language for the time being. This is because we are talking about sound-meanings, which have to do with the method of pronunciation of sounds, which is a proven cross-cultural universal. (Thus explosiveness is a sound-meaning of /b/, not just because it inaugurates BANG! and BOOM! and BASH!, but because it is literally formed through a labial explosion.) We are not talking about reference, which is a separate but linked process of meaning-making which is NOT a cross-cultural universal.

What we are doing in defining the letters of Lingua-U is, put simply, storytelling about the processes of speech pronunciation. Speech pronunciation, it just so happens, is actually amazingly important because it is where a “magical” process of trans-linguistic meaning is discovered, utilized, and made into an object of power and beauty.

As we will see tomorrow when we look at the letter B in its use in the 500 most common words in English, B’s sound-meaning is not arbitrary. It is extremely bold, brash, and big. How could it not be, considering that its sound is produced kinesthetically by producing the biggest explosion possible for the mouth?

While certainly there are Radical Postmodern Linguistic Relativists sitting in ivory towers who would insist that the letter B could just as easily be associated with whispers as with sounds that go BOOM!, in fact language just doesn’t work that way. It does not conform to the Relativist’s theory, and it certainly does not have to.

Lingua-U does not just describe the way that language works, although it does, it also sets the bar for future linguistic evolution. Lingua-U tells us the way that language’s sound-meanings *ought to* work and interrelate if they are working well and capturing a large set of Reality as it has been described by numerous languages.

Make no mistake! Languages which do not include all of the sound-meanings of the 39 letters of Lingua-U are simply inadequate for conveying meaning in the 21st Century and for the next 1,000 years to come. Our languages must be at least as rich as the Lingua-U, and if they are not, then they need to be complemented by Lingua-U or by learning additional languages. I can speak of such things because I know all 39 letters of Lingua-U and they each have an indispensable role for conveying Wisdom, Magic, and Meta-Meaning.

(Meaning can be translated, words substituted; meta-meaning requires a Big Picture such as that given by Lingua-U … and Lingua-U is not conceivable with anything less than 39 letters. Every letter is important, indispensable, and rich in Wisdom, Magic, and Meta-Meaning.)

If a sound has been cataloged by the International Phonetic Association, it is somewhere on the IPA Vowel Chart or IPA Consonant Chart. The letters of Lingua-U include most of the sound-meanings common in English, the Romance languages, Chinese, and other widely spoken languages.

When a sound falls through the cracks (because there are only 39 letters in Lingua-U), the sound is not ignored. Instead, the sound is said to be included in the range of sound-meanings given to the letter which is its best fit. There are many ways of pronouncing rhotic sounds, so Lingua-U’s R must serve to include a range of less common sounds.

Thus there is not only one correct way to pronounce R in Lingua-U, but many acceptable ways. In Prototype 1.0, there is a standard way – in the case of R, it is pronounced as in American English. Once this standard is learned, there is room for additional pronunciations to be learned and explored in future versions of the meta-language.

But first things first. We begin with learning each of the 39 letters. Tomorrow we will finish our look at Zero by examining the first consonant, B.

Lingua-U Alphabet: 0: Eɪ

LESSONSEɪ, The Second Letter of Lingua-U, Is Linked To “Space”, “Nature”, “Creating”, “Making”, and “Changing”

Now that you’ve learned the first letter of Lingua-U, Aɪ, turn to the second letter of the alphabet: Eɪ. Aɪ is a Primary Vowel – meaning that it’s one of only three vowels with special significance and unique phonetic features. Secondary Vowels such as Eɪ are a bit less important, but they are essential for forming most words.

Eɪ is the first Secondary Vowel and it actually shares the same numerical value as Aɪ. Both are assigned the value of Zero, Aɪ standing for 0, and Eɪ standing for 00 (which is 0 + 0, and therefore it reduces to 0). This fact is important to Gematria, which is a Lingua-U term borrowed from Kabbala, where it also refers to the ability to compute numerical value of words.

So if you take a simple English word such as “Aim”, you can spell it in Lingua-U simply by recording its phonetic pronunciation as Eɪm, which is the letter Eɪ plus the letter M. Substitute 0 for Eɪ and substitute 18 for M (see the chart at “Introducing the Principles and Alphabet of Lingua-U” for the values). Then add 0 and 18 together and you get the numerical value of the English word “Aim”.

Did you notice that any time the vowel Eɪ appears in a word, it is swapped for Zero, so it is like nothing. Well it happens, not coincidentally, that there is an Element assigned to Eɪ in the New Kosmology (a.k.a. the New Map of the Heavens). This Element is Space, which is empty. It makes sense for emptiness to be depicted by the Eɪ letter in ways which you will discover once you begin to investigate the numerical equivalencies of some common words.

Today we continue our study of the Lingua-U Alphabet by way of a study of the 500 most commonly used words of the English language. (As previously noted, our source for our investigation is the publication “Top 1000 Words” which analyzed works of literature in the English language.)

We are currently looking at the sound-meanings of the letters Aɪ, Eɪ, and B in Lingua-U. We do this as storytellers, not just linguists. We research the overlapping patterns to be found in this particular subset of words, and then tell a story which helps to make sense of the sound-meaning broadly speaking. Lingua-U Alphabet: 0: Aɪ

LESSONSAɪ, The First Letter of Lingua-U, Is Linked To “I”, “Light”, “Right”, “Time”, and “Fire”

We begin our study of the Lingua-U Alphabet by way of a simple study of the 500 most commonly used words of the English language. (The source for our investigation is the publication “Top 1000 Words” which analyzed various works of literature in the English language.)

Our intent over the next three days is to examine the sound-meanings of the letters Aɪ, Eɪ, and B in Lingua-U by looking at the overlapping patterns to be found in this particular subset of words, and then telling a story which helps to make sense of the sound-meaning broadly speaking.

Of course, it is entirely possible that a different set of English words or words from different languages would tell a different story. Don’t let this be a hang-up at this point. Cross-linguistic research must be conducted to tell a more complete story, but the differences between languages are such that at this early stage in our investigation it is important to look at each language separately. We are beginning with English for a variety of practical reasons.

Why begin with Aɪ, Eɪ, and B? Simply put, these letters share the distinction of corresponding to the first number in the New Numerology, Zero (0). Aɪ is 0 by itself, Eɪ is 00 (which reduces to 0), and B is 000 (which also reduces to 0). Of these three, today our concern is… Continue reading “Lingua-U Alphabet: 0: Aɪ”
