Below you’ll find a freshly updated slice of the Integral pie. There are some amazing people doing remarkable work in the world, and there are few better ways to understand how the Integral worldview is making a difference than to see how it is being put into practice.
At this time, the list includes Antioch University Midwest, ARINA, California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), Center for Human Emergence, Core Integral, Drishti, Fielding Graduate University, HolachracyOne, iEvolve, Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, Integral Institute, John F. Kennedy University, Pacific Integral, and Transpersonal Psychotherapy & Counseling.
As you will see, I have not attempted to limit the directory to groups aligning themselves with any one particular thinker or philosophy. The list includes a wide range of folks who identify their work as “Integral” in one way or another. This approach fits this blog’s understanding of “Integral” as an emergent worldview and cultural phenomenon more than any particular philosophy.
There are other groups and organizations that surely belong on the list (particularly, European organizations) and I will add them as soon as they are brought to my attention.
The following list includes some of the organizations supporting the development of interdisciplinary research and education, interfaith and worldcentric spirituality, and the application of integral methdologies in real world settings.
Offers an Individualized Master of Arts (IMA) program supportive of graduate student research in the field of Integral and Holistic Studies (ILPS).
ARINA, Inc. is a nonprofit organization devoted to charitable, educational, and social scientific research purposes. Their journal, Integral Review, is an online, peer-reviewed scholarly publication published twice a year. According to ARINA’s Web site, their work is based on transdisciplinary process thought emphasizing the organic and developmental nature of reality.
An area of focus is a methodology called Integral Process For Working On Complex Issues (TIP), which is described as a mature, research-based process for organizational change. The group is also developing a project called Integral Evaluation Process, related to the perspectives and intentions underlying perceptions and action.
ARINA is Ohio-based and led by Sara Ross, Ph.D., the group’s president.
An educational institution providing graduate, master’s, and Ph.D. programs at the School of Professional Psychology and the School of Consciousness and Transformation. Programs include East-West Psychology and Integrative Health Studies.
According to Wikipedia, CIIS is a San Francisco-based private college founded in 1968. It has three locations south of the Civic Center district, 1,400 students, and 69 core faculty members.
Center for Human Emergence
An organization aspiring to initiate action to create indigenous ownership and commitment in centers across the globe, and to integrate and align a coalition of organizations, communities and thinkers. Founded by Don Beck, its website lists John L. Petersen, Ken Wilber, and Andrew Cohen as key personnel. The website also lists two projects: the Human Memome Project for mapping “memetic codes” and the Surprise Anticipation Center for tracking “drivers of the future.”
Educational organization committed to expanding access to the Integral approach while ensuring the integrity of a comprehensive Integral understanding.
The organization’s website lists Ali Akalin, Nicole Fegley, Clint Fuhs, and Ken Wilber as the key personnel. At this time, its offerings include interactive learning, one-on-one mentoring, and group training.
Drishti: Center for Integral Action
A Canadian non-profit organization that envisions a world where the practice of sustainable development enables humanity’s innate capacity to evolve in response to the complexity of global issues. Its goal is to develop ideas for integral action through research, writing, and community conversations.
Fielding Graduate University
Provides distributed learning graduate programs in Educational Leadership, Human Development, Human and Organizational Systems, an Integral Studies Certificate program. The Integral Studies Certificate searches for ways to apply theory and research in human development and consciousness to a variety of problems in the world.
An organization advocating a comprehensive practice for structuring, governing, and running organizations. Holacracy is advanced as a new “operating system” that facilitates rapid organizational evolution.
The HolacracyOne organization is structured in an innovative LLC legal format which prioritizes its purpose-driven nature. The website includes a blog and a subscription-based online community for individuals wishing a deeper exploration of practice.
iEvolve Global Practice Community
A global network committed to fostering the practice of a World Spirituality rooted in integral and evolutionary principles. The group understands World Spirituality to be based on “the shared truths held to be self-evident by all great systems of spirit and gnosis across historical time.”
The iEvolve website currently lists 30 members of the leadership team, including Dr. Marc Gafni, Mariana Caplan, Ph.D., Decker Cunov, and Tami Simon. The website also features a frequently updated blog and a Ning-based community.
Offers residential and distance learning graduate programs in Psychology, Transpersonal Psychology, and Transpersonal Studies. The institution was founded in 1975 and is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and College.
Integral Coaching Canada
A coach training school and program offering the Integral Coach™ designation through an ICF Accredited & AQAL Approved Integral Coaching® Certification Program.
The organization’s programs are designed for advisors, coaches, teachers, and other specialists supporting human development. It was founded in Ottawa, Canada, by Laura Divine and Joanne Hunt.
Integral Institute (I-I)
A think-and-practice tank aiming to help solve the complex global issues facing humanity in the 21st century through research and cultivation of leadership, especially with regard to those issues that can only be solved with a non-partial and Integral approach to the complex interdependencies that tend to characterize these issues.
In 2008, the I-I launched Integral Life, a related organization created to nurture the global base of individual integral practitioners. The spinoff allowed I-I to focus more on cultivating integral initiatives in the academic environment, leadership, and donor relationships.
John F. Kennedy University
Until 2011, this organization offered graduate programs in Integral Theory. It continues to offer programs in Holistic Health Education, Leadership for Sustainable Change, and Integral Psychology.
Pacific Integral (PI)
Offers the Generating Transformative Change certificate program as well as providing individual and organizational capacity development, consulting, organizational mentoring, and transformational program design. In 2011, the group launched GTC South Pacific, an innovative leadership program for the Southern Hemisphere.
PI’s leadership team is comprised of Geoff Fitch, Terri O’Fallon, Ph.D., Venita Ramirez, and others. The organization is based in Seattle, Washington.
Transpersonal Psychotherapy and Counseling
Provides psychotherapy and counseling services with body centred modalities, visualisation and meditation, dream analysis, cognitive behavioural therapy, script analysis, voice and breath-work, art therapy and process oriented psychology.
The programs include the Integral Clinic which combines various disciplines provided by healthcare practitioners, co-creating health goals with patients to be reached in the most integrated way. The group is based in East Sussex, United Kingdom.
